The Popular Show Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party access areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
